U.S. Department of Labor gives Citation and Penaltys to M&M International. Marcia Teixeira Products!

The U.S Department of Labor has cited M & M International (Marcia Teixeira Hair Products) with numerous citations and penalties from the time period of 03/08/3011 – 09/08/2011 of this year. The Mission of the DOL is to  foster, promote, and develop the welfare of the wage earners, job seekers, and retirees of the United States; improve working conditions; advance opportunities for profitable employment; and assure work-related benefits and rights. Without this organization our industry would run rampant with violations. Especially with all the commotion with the Brazilian Treatments. Why doesnt the Professional Beauty Industry take a look at the information? Why don’t they inform you? Well it’s all about EGO. And manufacturer dollars. The manufacturers have a lot of puppets who inform you , but only skim the surface of the problems. These puppets will say everything is all OK! Lets wait and see what the U.S Goverment will say and do. And then and only then will they SAY something in a press release.  And then they will hop onto the boat claiming they were there for your legal representation within the industry.  And charge you $300.00 to $1000.00 to join there professional organization and advertise with them on the sites, or networks, and web pages.

Citation 1 Item 1  Type of violation: SERIOUS

The employer did not assure that hazard warning labels complying with the requirements of 29 CFR 1919.1200(f)were affixed to all containers of material listed in 29 CFR 1910,1048(m)(1)(i), except to the extent that 29 CFR 1910.1200(f) is inconsistent with this paragraph.

On or about 03/08/2011, the employer did not ensure that containers of the formaldehyde-containing Marcia Teixeira hair products were updated to reflect the hazards associated with formaldehyde exposure. The products found contain formaldehyde were Brazilian Keratin Treatment, Advanced Brazilian Keratin Treatment, Chocolate Extreme De-frizzing Treatment, Soft Gentle Smoothing Treatment, and Soft Chocolate Gentle Smoothing Treatment.

John Santilli Mr. Kellner, I have just got your film “The Real Hair Truth” here in Rome, Italy. I cannot comment about the politics of the United States and the school industry. But it is always good that someone like Joseph Kellner puts up a mirror for us to see ourselves. Otherwise the industry will get stale. We need someone to …be out there, looking after us.
Before we had Michel Moore. Today we have Joseph Kellner on our side. Keep up the good work (and the mirror) and looking forward to your next Documentary.

Marion Shaw Hi Joseph, great work. I really like the fact that both sides of the subject were discussed. I absolutely agree with you that apprenticeship is the best way to learn this industry, combined with some classroom time to get the theory. It really should be standardized across the country.  As I was about to say, I believe the manufacturers are the “diverters” however, not without provocation. If salons did a better job of retailing product they could afford to keep it professional. Many millions of dollars are spent on producing product, most salons sell less than a dozen products per week.

Barb Cochran Joesph, I am beyond blown away by your documentary, THE REAL HAIR TRUTH! You did a fantastic job and you should be extremely proud of your accomplishment.

The Group Continues To Grow! Phil Stone Will Soon Bring You “Claudia”

No ego’s, no stars, no attitudes that is how I describe the 2 full days we shot with Phil Stone, Claudia Diesti, Dan Diesti, Dan Cunningham, La’Niece, Matt Fienman, and myself. This was the start for Claudia’s DVD on haircoloring, haircutting, hairstyling, and a biography of herself and her beliefs. These 2 days were filled with the most remarkable, ambitious, giving professionals that could be put together in one room. So many different professionals were there to pull this off. And so much clowning around to the fullest extent, that I would love to do this again with the same exact group. This was Phil Stones first taping of an educational DVD series for his website REWIREDHAIR.COM.  And Dan Cunningham who filmed and edited the documentary THE REAL HAIR TRUTH took on this undertaking  with Matt Fienman who was also in charge of videography.  And Dan Diesti Claudia’s husband was the everything role. From food, to hair supplys, to makeup to wardrobe. Dan did it all. And for once I could kick back and just do makeup and I also helped with the photoshoot. Either way we did a little of everyone’s profession with the staff for the DVD. And learning was top on the agenda with this shoot.

Learning was on everyone’s mind the past two days with this shoot. Phil with Dan learning Videography, Myself learning from Claudia – Balayage, everyone had education on their minds. And getting the proper filming within this two-day event was close to 24 hours of filming, setting up the stage, supply runs, etc. But we all pulled together to shoot Claudia and get the best footage we could possibly get for her DVD.  All in all we all got the job done and there was a moment in time that I will always remember these two days of my career, That we all pulled together and did a positive for everyone, the Industry, Claudia, Phil, everyone. And to get that type of group together is sheer priceless. And all the time went so very fast I will truly remember this DREAM. Or maybe this wonderful moment.
